Things to do in Cyprus 1

We’re taking a break from our usual articles about Cypriot people and culture, to take for a bit about what exactly you can do while in Cyprus, beyond the generalities of going to the beach and enjoying some gyros.

One activity that many find to be increasingly enjoyable is heading for the hills of Cyprus, agritourism being an increasing trend on the island, but being an increasing trend means that it is not nearly as popular as spending your time in a popular coastal resort, but that isn’t a bad thing.

This means that a holiday in the Troodos Mountains would be recommended to all those holidaymakers who are looking for a more rugged, adventurous while at the same time laid-back experience. The mountainous area of Cyprus is quite different than the very tourist-centric coastal one, and is a splendid place for those looking for more of an active holiday, one which includes walking, cycling, sightseeing and the like.

Rest your head under the shade of cedars and pines, and relish living in a restored traditional house, where you can enjoy traditional Cypriot cooking and then go exploring quiet and small villages nestled between hills and in valleys, and see the many Byzantine churches that dot the landscape and their fantastic frescoes. One such church is the Agios Nikolaos tis Stegis, which you can find close to the very picturesque village of Kakopetria. This is a monastery dating back to the 11th century that is located in what is likely one of the most enchanting settings of all the religious buildings in the area, being located high up in a lush glade close to the Karyatis river, it truly makes going to church a very scenic endeavor.

This is just one option of things that you can see and do while in Cyprus, make a reservation with our Cyprus car hire services and enjoy as much of the island as you can.
